OK… by way of further introduction, here’s a little more about my bona fides as a watch writer.
Not to put my ego on display, but you might recognize my name because I’ve left footprints all around the web over the last few years. I’ve written pieces about watches for the likes of Gear Patrol, Ask Men, Worn & Wound, and Beckertime.
No, I’m not as high-profile as a lot of folks. Nor as prolific.
But I’m damn proud of all that writing. It’s all bylined, so there’s no secret. In fact, I’ll introduce a lot of those articles to you one by one in the coming weeks.
So if I’ve had all those outlets to write for, why am I doing this again? This starting my own watch blog thing? I mean, people like Shane Griffin (my co-writer at GearPatrol), Roberta Nass, and Elizabeth Doerr have started their great blogs in the last year or so.
How do I compete with all that?
Well, I don’t.
All those folks are great. I encourage you to read them. But here in the Northern Time Zone, you get me. My voice. My irreverence, unadulterated by the admittedly necessary style guides of my respective outlets (although I think my voice is pretty close to the one outlined by GearPatrol’s guide).
No offense to them, but it’s nice to pull the socks off and let my toes stretch, you know?
